«No show without Tarasca»: the costume of the Tarasca and its making by dressmakers from Granada in the Corpus (1883-1936)

Abstract

In the present paper, we proceed to the study of everything related to the making of the Tarasca costume, during the Corpus Christi Festivities of Granada, between 1883 and 1936. Analyzing the process of making the costume, such as the call for the contest, its subsequent announcement in the press, the costs of the dress and accessories, the award of the contest, the chronicles in the press of the clothing, the identification of the partici-pating dressmakers and the recognition they acquired with it.
