Abstract

Based on various archival documentation, the case of Ana Gutiérrez has been recovered. Widow of an important sugar entrepreneur from the city of Motril (Granada), she began building a mill on her land property in the first half of the 17th century. Its uniqueness is given because its constructive and industrial purpose affected and confronted the inhabitants of a city, forcing her to assert her rights in the court of Granada.
