Civil war and postwar in the Alpujarra Alta of Granada through oral memory

Abstract

In this article I will deal with aspects related to daily life during the Spanish Civil War and the Spanish postwar period, as well as with the social memory of this period, from a historical and anthropological perspective. This will be done by means of oral testimonies registered from people, born between 1927 and 1943, in villages in the High Alpujarra. The author has interviewed these people in the past few years. I will deal with issues ranging from the repression and anti-Franco fight to the ways of reducing hunger, and also to the black market and rationing.
