Discovering local heritage: the case of Pulianillas. Huerta de San Antón and Our Lady of Remedies

Can something that remains unknown truly be valued and protected? Prompted by this reflection, the present study turns to the patrimonial core of Pulianillas. Its purpose is twofold: first, to bring into scholarly consideration a case of local historical-artistic heritage that has thus far remained largely overlooked; and second, to provide, within a deliberately limited scope and in broad terms, an outline of the historical development of the selected locality in the province of Granada. To this end, two key sites that coexist and structure the historic fabric of the municipality have been examined: the Church of Nuestra Señora de los Remedios and the Huerto de San Antón, whose name today constitutes almost the sole surviving trace of that former enclave. The research has been conducted through the analysis of a range of sources, including documentary evidence, graphic materials, and oral testimonies. Although the available documentation proves valuable, it remains fragmentary, as certain documents of particular importance have not been located.
