Abstract

At the beginning of the 20th century, once the five Socialist Groups that had been created in the province of Granada had disappeared, the workers’ movement in Granada gathered around the «La Obra» Workers’ Society, clearly influenced by republicanism. Within it came together the dispersed socialist militants who, inclined towards an alliance with the republicans, founded a Socialist Party unconnected to the PSOE, and even opposed to it. In its short but intense life, united with the republicans, they held positions on the local Board of Social Reforms and stood in elections, even managing to obtain a councillor. Its disappearance coincides with the decline of the workers’ movement led by «La Obra». Several of its leaders would take part in the reconstruction of the local PSOE in 1908.
