Abstract

In 2022, in collaboration with the Fornes City Council and the Provincial Council of Granada, the PROMETEO research group (HUM-143) began the first archaeological excavations carried out in an emblematic site, such as La Mesa de Fornes, dated between the last moments of the Late Bronze Age and the beginning of the Iron Age, with an imposing wall preserved at almost 6 meters high and just over 90 meters long. This site controlled the commercial connection that was established at that time between the indigenous communities of the Vega de Granada and the Phoenician communities on the coast of Malaga.
