Abstract

During the second half of the 18th century, one of the most famous archaeological frauds in Granada took place on the hill of Albaicín. The Roman city of Iliberri was located here, which was the «object» of study of Juan de Flores. This is the subject of study of this work, observed from the perspective of the University of Granada, which underwent a profound change during this time, from a prostrate situation to a renewed one. The work is divided into four parts: an introduction about Ancient Granada; next the intellectual context of the fraud and the fraud itself; and we end with the role of the University.
